HOW DID YOU GET INTO COSPLAY?

I started cosplaying at FANIME 99 - that was my first year out in California (for college), so it was the first time I was actually able to attend a convention.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST COSTUME?

My first costume was Card Captor Sakura's school uniform. I bought the skirt and sewed the shirt by hand -- terribly! But that was the best I could do in the days before I saved up and bought an excellent new sewing machine. I could go on & bore you, so I'll sum it up by saying that my grandmother started to teach me to sew on an OOOOLD sewing machine when I was young. I has always hoped to get a new machine that WORKED WELL to make something on my own. Each time I make a new costume, I learn new things about sewing technique, reading/following patterns, working with various fabrics, etc. I try to challenge myself on new costumes!
